antisocial distancing

earlier days of distance

word from the outside:

today i went for provisions

two supermarkets in the same town

I was, as usual, wearing my almost-full hazmat apparel: gloves, glasses and mask

the first (pricey) supermarket had a long-ish, slow moving queue

free bottled water was brought round for people waiting in hot sun

it was one in one out and only 10-20 shoppers in store at any time

half the people were in masks

empty aisles with well stocked shelves, people social distancing, an over-abundance of Easter eggs, NO pasta.

the second more budget supermarket had NO queue, no social-distancing, about 200 customers crowded in aisles, full shelves, still NO pasta, some attention to spaced-out queuing for the tills.
no-one in masks, except for me

shocking difference in approach

returned home remembering in my angst to leave the store full of people, i didnt buy any meat (except for a big lump of cow for roast beef easter lunch: sorry vegan friends)

at home, stripped, hot showered, washed clothes and all provisions

i HATE going to the shoppes now: i used to go almost daily to buy something i'd forgotten.

living opposite a convenience store (aka. the KOOP: our larder-over-the-road) makes you very lazy: we're often in and out of there several times a day: 'bollox: forgot the milk, buggr: need some eggs etc...)

havent been over the road since getting back from LA: refuse to 'pop in' for one or two items like I see people are CONSTANTLY doing all day.
"just nipping out for a paper"

now i'm trying to shop once a fortnight only
but i guess it's still weekly inc. what's being delivered

my brother shops once every two months

heard from friends in LA they've got enough for the next 6 months

that's impressive planning

put up the antique swing seat in the garden and basked in HOT sun: not a cloud in the sky

starting to feel guilty for the guilt-free, care-free holiday some of us are enjoying while others are in full horror and heartbreak mode :(

solidarity from a distance friends and family xx
