Patrick
Patrick is now one of bucha''s shared dogs
his previous unknown owner/s are nowhere to be found
and Patrick roams about but comes back to roman and Svetlana's and their neighbour's place
he's very loving
if he wasn't getting looked after already, i'd be happy to rehome him, despite his clear level of stress
roman says the russians killed and ate dogs when they were there and that Patrick must know this
russians also killed dogs if they wouldnt stop barking at them
somehow it seems like there is a parallel to be drawn from this and all the pictures of Ukranian soldiers caring for stray, stressed dogs: the fundamental difference in culture between these two armies

last night the American embassy declared that all Americans in ukraine should 'DEPART IMMEDIATELY' which is concerning our Ukranian friends
why?
what does America know about what is happening next?
i do not plan to depart immediately: i plan to continue with my photo-mission
but it is background troubling (more than the ever-present possibility of an air strike)
i am conscious that i can depart immediately anytime i want to, and my Ukranian friends can't

imagine being someone that millions of people felt the world would be better off if you didnt exist: what a legacy
how much bad karma would be coming for you?!
i wish karma would speed up and do the business

Lviv, the return
back to Lviv for part 2 of the photo-mission and Andrii's 35th birthday
which has to be over by 9.30pm for curfew
no clubs to go to for a dance
instead a hookah bar, a burger and horilka (Ukranian vodka)
i try to encourage a mad dash to Warsaw but this 6hr drive not including border crossing time probably isn't the best birthday party idea ive ever had
instead Andrii invents me a new drink: sweet cider with a shot of vodka in it
