uncharacteristically up first to make mrs.perou a cup of tea, painfully aware that i hadn't got her a card or a present (yet)
this is not usual practice.
unlike mrs.perou i try and do birthdays on the right day and get things organised.
it wasn't that i'd forgotten: i just hadn't had a spare moment to arrange the purchase of anything appropriate in time.
as mrs.perou was leaving for a hair cut in laaandon by lord hamilton i gave her my credicard with 'treat yourself to something nice' words.
if i have ever bought mrs.perou a nice handbag/shoes/clothes of any kind, she ALWAYS exchanges it.
best she buys these things for herself
took the dogs and sons for a long walk
took the sons for a long shoppe in tescos
after lunch, spent the rest of the day struggling to get two sons to concentrate on their homework.
maximum is making a 3d model of a van gogh painted room and z is doing symetrical shapes and learning/using words like act, fact, habit, splat, grab
just before mrs.perou came home, there were hare coarsing gypsies doing doughnuts over the fields in front of the farm.
until they got stuck in the same water-logged fields.
within 20 minutes 10 gypsies 2 more cars and a 4x4 had arrived to tow out the stuck van.
they failed to pull it out.
i had to ask some to move off our drive so that mrs.perou could drive in.
called the police, who turned up after they'd all gone again (except for the van which will be there for a while)
'sorry for the delay in getting here' said the policeman/boy, 'we're the only three response officers for the whole of canterbury, whitstable and herne bay area'
'there are just three of you??' i said.
'yes: amazing isn't it: when i started there were 10 police officers responding to 999 calls and a sergeant in canterbury and another 5 with a sergeant in herne bay...now there are three in total'
CUTBACKS everywhere.
could be time to further fortify the farm.
maybe z's drawn jets could do fly-bys?
my dad has an appointment with the stroke unit in 4-6 weeks since his stroke.
