a little game of cat and mouse

a little game of cat and mouse

9-2 is alive and well and proving as sadistic as any of our other cats

usually when our cat brings in something to kill, lucy screams and attempts to rescue it's prey

i usually prefer to let nature take its course and not intervene

whatever's been caught is usually mauled, snagged by a claw or chewed by this point

but today i was overwhelmed with empathy for this mouse

i was considering how aware the mouse was of it's fate, how much it knew it was about to die and what was going through its tiny mind facing death.

was it resigned to what was going to inevitably happen?

cats are so bastardly: so lacking in compassion for other living things: fair enough if you gotta eat it, but why torture your kill first?

:(

a happy ending?

a happy ending?

not for the cat, who obviously felt completely cheated

taking pity on the mouse, who didnt seem too physically damaged to survive this ordeal, GOD came down and rescued the little fella, literally from the fangs of death and released him into the undergrowth, rail-side (probably where it was caught in the first place)

i went on to imagine how the mouse might deal with this whole experience, if it didnt just go and have a heart attack somewhere

PTSD?

complete life-reformation: stop drinking, stop taking drugs, start being nicer to other mice, appreciate every single day like it's your last?

have some interesting stories to tell down the pub about the day you got abducted by aliens and how you escaped?
