mr bunny is dead

mr bunny is dead

long live mr.bunny

the words from my instagram post today:

our beloved hound, loyal friend, most photographed family member, warm teddy bear, favourite pillow and fur baby is no longer with us.
he would have kept on without complaint despite the obvious pain, stress and discomfort we could see he was in and that was getting worse.
Weds morning Lucy took him to the vets (which he loved going to, weirdly) and held him as he died.
I could not bring myself to go.
That morning we went on a beautiful short walk up a hill and caught the sunlight in our faces.
It’s almost unbearable right now to see and post these pictures.
Those of you who live with, and love dogs know how harsh it is losing them
But it’s us left behind who are sad and heartbroken: mr bunny is at peace and we are happy about that.
He had a top life and touched everyone’s hearts he met.
An epic beast with a big heart.
Too big it turns out.
Amusingly when Lucy called the crematorium to make arrangements, they asked ‘what’s your loved one’s name?’
‘Mr Bunny’ Lucy said.
‘…and he’s a rabbit?’ Asked the guy.
‘No: he’s a DOG’
And a great dog he was too. He will be VERY missed.

this photo by Lucy was taken on bunny's last morning, a few hours before he died.
we managed one last blast of sunshine, on a remote almost-walk in the countryside near-by.

we are missing him terribly.
