shaved off the beard (mine) and drove over to whitstable for ernie's birthday party: he is two.

'twas the whitstable oyster festival.
whitstable (aka. islington-by-the-sea) is SO much 'nicer' than herne bay...but in herne bay, cod and chips cost £3 whilst in whitstable they cost £10.95.
the two seaside towns are 3 miles apart.
had a few ciders (£4 a pint?) on the beach with les, nicola, mrs.perou, che and miranda as our respective sons threw stones at each other and paddled.
then caught a (dixie?) jazz band in a pub and had some late lunch before heading back to the farm with a hangover.
generally a nice, sunny day.
if it wasn't for the news, we'd be completely oblivious to the rest of england being underwater with people being airlifted out of flooded houses.
weirdness.
hope we're not next...
