up the hammers
when i was a kid, i 'supported' west ham united.
i think the only reason was because my dad was working near the stadium around then (after he was a chef at 'the ritz' he was working for the NHS deciding what meals people got to eat in hospital) and he got me a shirt.
there was also an old photo kicking around of some west ham united players getting off a coach (?)
really i should have supported 'brighton and hove albion' as they were our local team and the only football match i ever went to had them playing in it.
today i decided maximum and z support 'chelsea'.
i know this will upset and offend several of my friends and be welcomed by others.
they support chelsea because the discount sports store i went to today had a choice of liverpool, man united, chelsea or aresnal strips.
and chelsea was the only kit they had in maximum and z's sizes.
i would have preferred a 'leyton orient' kit (from when we lived in hackney wick and as we still have an old flag of theirs)
i also considered a vintage 'PERU' kit from t'internet but it didn't come in kid's sizes.
i like watching the world cup.
i have NO (absolutely zero) interest in watching ANY regional football games: live or on tv.
unless one of my children is playing.
maximum is now playing once a week and z will be soon too.
we were feeling sorry for maximum after kids in his club were ridiculing him for not having a team kit: he was turning up in a (much better) snoopy 'be cool' t-shirt and shorts.
i like to dress obviously 'different' from the majority of people around me, but i can't impose that on my children: if they want to conform, i will enable.
finally returned ms.hood, who has been living with us all week, to the station and a london bound train.
returnng to the farm just caught a glimpse of sunshine that made me crave the summer.
there's now a very belated posting of behind the scenes, scenes of the 125 story, 'where will it end' here.
props to mark and frances
