good friday
our first (home grown) chicken was born today.
a proper easter chick...although he/she(?) was quite unplanned for this arrival date.
we were all saying: 'it's a miracle'
but of course, it's not at all: it's everyday nature doing it's thing.
maximum has named him 'king kong' as he's strong and made it out his shell.
i say 'he' as we expect it to be a rooster.
he's got a long middle toe.
roosters have longer middle toes than hens...don't cha know.
spent a lot of the day extreme-gardening.
there is tons of chicken wire and plastic coated wire mesh on it's way out of our orchard.
SO much to strip back before we can rebuild this little empire.
i would be happy gardening all day, everyday.
i applied for a job at wakehurst when i was younger.
i didn't get it.
if i had, things would be very different for me.
this diary's gone from london based to countryside based...i wonder if it will go from photography based to farmer/gardener based?
while mrs.perou caught a rare lunchtime nap, i drove the daft ride-on lawnmower across three fields, towing a trailer with my bike (and z' child seat) and maximum's bike with maximum and z, to a 1/2 mile of farm track that maximum could practice proper bike riding on.
he loved it and mastered riding along pretty good and even managed to pull away himself, without a push.
harriet and sarah who stayed last night left this morning.
che and miranda are coming tomorrow.
i like to have a full house here.
we'll be a commune before you know it...and perhaps i'll write my diary about 'life in our commune'.
