and so it begins...

and so it begins...

i remember a time, not so long ago that people commissioning me to shoot photos started asking, 'do you shoot digital?'

today, i got my first, 'can you shoot on a red camera...or a canon 5d?'

nobody used to believe me when i said (10 years ago) that 'in the future, video capture will replace the decisive moment: i'll just film someone and choose some of the 25 frames a second to email'.

HA BITCHES!

still photography won't die of course: it'll just go more 'art': like when everyday painting was replaced by film photography then film photography was replaced by digital photography.

and i now predict a slump in the quality of moving images you see as so many photographers rebrand themselves as 'directors'.
with their canon 5d's and little much else.
and undercut proper film crews and people with skills, knocking out substandard shit on the cheap.

like when anyone with a digital stills camera could call themselves a photographer (including z, my 4 yr old son) and do the same.

'vidiots' as 'real' film people call them (us?).

this WILL happen: you can't stop it.

i'm slightly ahead of the curve.
but expect to get stampeded in the rush.

everything changes but you...

DTT

spent 7hrs in an edit suite on 'old compton street' watching the online: ironing out the creases, stabalising the image etc.. of the tv ads.

i'm still here...

KEEP UP!
