it's ok: i know exactly what i look like.
these are the depths to which i will sink in the pursuit of work.

(i lost an underwater ad campaign recently as i was not qualified to dive on compressed air. the shoot that i did on 'dirty sexy things' at 20ft underwater was done holding my breath, repeatedly for 5hrs, which almost killed me and which was not mentioned on the show)

i am NOW qualified as a PADI open water diver.
i am now working on my advanced diver qualification

i need to get to commercial diver grade 2 to shoot in a pool and commercial diver grade 3 to shoot in the sea.

today i had my first underwater incident: you have to be able to take off your mask underwater and put it back on again and clear the water out your mask.
this is easy when you're not wearing a hood (to keep you warm at the bottom of a cold, murky lake in kent)

but the mask needs to go under the tight fitting neoprene hood before you can clear it of water.
i was getting in a right old fluster and had a good go at drowning myself.

second time i got it right.
incredibly scary going from breathing air underwater to breathing air and water.
your situation can change incredibly quickly.

i am not feeling so great now.
the lake water isn't the best drinking water.

BUT i'm happy to have got to stage 1 and i am looking forward to continuing (and diving in some warmer, clearer waters)

BIG PROPS to kent scuba for their great teaching.
