FTLA
flew to LA
sanitising as i went
mask for comic effect: i know it's only useful if you're symptomatic
whenever i see or hear the word 'symptomatic' i hear it sung in the voices of the pointer sisters

watched a few hours of 'altered carbon'
half-slept some: hyper-aware of every throat clearing and cough
flew air New Zealand: i fitted on the comfy 6ft 7" bed and ate off-the-hook good food: highly recommend

what used to be an obligatory out-of-the-window shot, has gone beyond into another level cliched cliche
i'd asked to take a 'proper' shot of the cockpit having walked past the open door
it was considered, then i was considered a security risk and my request was declined: ACCESS DENIED
on arrival at LAX
there were thousands of people waiting for immigration checks
and only 2 open desks to process arrivals :o
the hours it takes to clear immigration always feel like a waste of life
i was expecting some kind of medical questionnaire or check too
but surreally, there was NOTHING: no questions at all: just a couple of officers stamping everyone's passports and getting us in as quickly as possible.
no medical questions
no temperature check
no questions AT ALL which is the first time ever, i have been 'welcomed' in this way.
didn't really make sense

only some bad iPhone photos for you this day.
although this view above the clouds never fails to WOW me: i LOVE flying
when i'm not too uncomfortable
after surreal entry
picked up a hideous maroon (short bus) Ford Flex and accidentally drove the wrong way on the 10 into downtown
back for dinner for one at top round roast beef: best tater tots EVA
stopped at MY grocers: Ralph's to marvel at the empty shelves: NO water, NO bread, cakes or biscuits (NONE), NO toilet roll or paper products, NO cold vitamins
sodas, fruit and veg in full supply
drove in hateful vehicle to hotel
(will change car tomorrow: if this is end of days, i'm not going to spend the last of mine driving round LA in a disability vehicle)
live music playing SO loud at hotel, the receptionist had to write check-in information down on paper for me.
fortunately i'm on the 16 floor so i didnt hear a thing
except the heavy rain hitting my window: don't blame me: it was raining before i got here
