practice like you have never won. perform like you have never lost

carnival kent style (like no other)

the annual town carnival is quite a spectacle

with local beauty queens from neighbouring towns on floats pulled by tractors and 4x4's accompanied by marching bands and 80's cover bands

lots of ABBA (still current)

the illuminated young beauty queens sit on plastic garden furniture, waving awkwardly, protected from unruly kids throwing stuff at them by chicken wire mesh screens.

the rain seemed to add to the sense of occasion

a very British moment
