is 3 a lucky number?

is 3 a lucky number?

yesterday i had my third panic, ever

my first was in Leyton Asda about 20 years ago: down the tinned vegetable aisle with theme tune to 'watership down' playing: 'bright eyes burning like fire' and Eastern-European-looking-people fighting over discount jeans, on offer.

my second, a few years later, happened when i was lost in Edmonton IKEA's warehouse and karl Hyde kindly talked me down (and out) over the phone

i WAS having a good day: lots of good news coming in

drove to wembley to meet Paul of 'Peter and Paul' to finalise version 26 (yes: 26!) of the Marilyn Manson book

but then the full technology meltdown continued

too boring to detail.

simply to say EVERYTHING that could go wrong, did.

and now we're SO reliant on tech, that, combined with some other perfect storm convergences, tipped me over the edge.

WEMBLEY WTF??

WEMBLEY WTF??

did not help that Paul had given me the wrong address for the (one of two) premier inn's in Wembley Park,

that my shat-nav stopped working, my phone went NO NETWORK and then walking to find the other premier inn i got bombarded with views like this...

and then this...

and then this...

who ****ing designs this utter shit and are they doing it just to **** with us?

are they deliberately pushing to see what eye horror they can get away with?

THEN i phone Lucy for help and she didn't answer the phone

when i got phone signal back and got the text from Paul with written instructions on how to find him, which i could not follow

i ended up shouting at him down the phone 'JUST PING ME YOUR ****ING LOCATION NOW OR I'M GOING TO TURN ROUND BACK TO KENT ****'

fortunately paul is gentle and chill so he was still friendly when i finally turned up

in the artist's studio

in the artist's studio

who would imagine that such greatness could happen on a table in the lobby of a premier inn, in Wembley Park?

here's Paul, who I have been persecuting for months (or years?) over the design of the book we're doing of 21 years of (my) Marilyn Manson photographs.

at this point i am recovering as we spend 6 hrs here, non-stop, in design tweaking.

Paul is ill with a cold and self-medicating with whisky and pepsi max (ewww)

i am fuelled by tangerines, grapes and cranberry and clementine Jaffa cakes from M&S

the book is DONE but still Manson and his manager need to sign off on it: MAYBE there's a few more tweaks needed

but i'm VERY pleased with how its looking: i'm very excited

after this photo, i RTK at speed on empty motorways

then spend the next few hours not being able to sleep

nb. just noticed Donald Sutherland was sitting behind us :o
