life and death at the farm

'pig guru' rob came round to discuss what we'll need fencing wise and where we'll be putting our pigs.

he managed to convince me we should get 10 turkeys (for christmas) too.

and that some sheep might be a good idea for later.

all of which i'm excited about.

our new front door will cost £1000...seems like a lot...but all quotes came in near this.

and solar panels for the pool to replace the knackered heater (which still wouldn't get it quite hot enough) will be £14,000 but last 25yrs and are maintainance free.
i don't know if i'll be able to afford to live here for the next 25yrs.

despite maximum saying he's going to live here (with daisy) when he gets older.

'when i'm older, i'm going to live here with daisy'

'where are me and mummy going to live?', i said.

'you can live at mum-mum and dad-dad's', he replied.

'and where are mum-mum and dad-dad going to live?', i asked.

'they'll be dead', he said.

simple.

z has just thrown up.
maximum threw up earlier in the week.

mrs.perou had considered that maximum might have swallowed too much water in his swimming lesson.
and that COULD be the same for z because he went to his first swimming lesson today (his class are called 'tadpoles') but he didn't get in the pool till the last minute as he said it was too deep.

however, there's a 1 day illness going round the area.
i hope to avoid it myself.

the grounds are littered with dead baby birds falling out of nests.
the boys also take it very matter of factly: 'there's a nother baby bird over there...', says z, '...it went splat.'
