box hedge

box hedge

our friends christine and cleve came round with florence and otto just in time to find me finishing off planting 25 box hedge bits (which when grown will replace the grotty fence that can keep the ducks and chickens in, when required).

cleve (who's just won gold AGAIN at chelsea) was kind enough not to poo-poo my hedging plans.
i know box hedging isn't cool.

he did however refuse to entertain my idea of planting 200 leylandii on the perimeter of one of our fields to obsure the distant dual carriageway.
'perhaps something more in keeping...like willow would be good?'.

doh.

walking cleve and christine round the ground, made me realise how overgrown the gardens are getting.
need to employ a gardener and put in some time myself very soon.

(i'd made a start today with the box hedging, see)

the nameless running duck is inspecting in the background.
when i was digging the hedge bits in, i had a load of chickens round me keen to gobble up any unearthed worms.
yummy

florence has got art in her veins: christine (her grandma) is a great artist and we have several of her fine works on our walls, which we love.

mrs.perou's the artist who did the round suacepan burn on the kitchen table.
