come on my son...

i've been seeing the inflatable rat around NY for years.
and for the first time i now know what it means:
if a building site is employing non-union workers, the union pitches up and inflates a rat in front of the building...and maybe holds a little disgruntled picket.
imagine what good business inflatable rat sellers would be doing in england.

batchelor fridge
a well stocked fridge, courtesy 'myers of keswick'
this is actually the view of the fridge BEFORE my folks got here.
now it has more food in it than just a chicken breast, a bagel and piece of brocolli.

the pointtless, expensive, yellow robot in uniglo isn't right bright...but you can encourage him/it to do his/it's exercises.

i must have the only parents who always pack a fly-swat in their case, 'just in case'.

spent the morning with ma and pa.
did bloomigdales (to the soundtrack of my mum looking at prices of things and saying 'ridiculous') tiffanys then fao schwarz.
i sent ma and pa off in a cab to lunch at pj clarkes (after which they took a horse drawn cab round central park (the driver was from liverpool) and they're doing 'the lion king' on broadway tonight).
i rushed back to apartment to collect my 'shit' (cameras etc) and sped over to the westside highway, location scouting for another shoot with 'late of the pier'.
hot sun.
shoot good: short but fun.
i like this band: they're good people.

two more days and i leave for blighty.
i'll be on the same plane as my parents.
at the beginning of this trip i was counting the days before i'd be home.
now i'm dragging my feet to some extent.
i REALLY miss the family
but i don't really miss the farm like i thought i would.
NY is exciting and i feel creatively alive.
what a cliché i am.
that one constant in life: 'change'...is looming.
a (mentally unstable) ex-girlfriend of mine once drew a picture of me with a speech bubble coming out of my mouth, and the words 'i fear change'.
i don't fear change...i live/love it.
big news of the day (if i haven't mentioned it before?) is that i will be returning to live in NY through november.
i'll be home to slaughter the pigs, do bonfire night, cut the grass and give the wife and children some (hopefully) undivided attention.
then i'll be back here in time to vote for OBAMA
