REDRUN REDRUN

REDRUN REDRUN

best family holiday yet

we hit the lifts as soon as they open at 9am
then ski all day.

it was cloudy in the village with terrible visibility on the low slopes but we took a high chair lift which brought us out into clear blue skies.

you really feel like you're in the heavens: the clouds below look like a mist covered lake: it's breath-takingly beautiful.

stopped for lunch at a high altitude restaurant on stilts (2100m) just looking out over snow capped mountains.

the steak and chips with a pint bottle of bulmers cider reinforcing the idea that i had arrived in heaven.
so relaxing in the sun and quiet.

did not want to come back down.

but did it the right way: emma took me and maximum down our first red run.

and that was ok so we did it again.

now i feel like i can ski, i don't want to stop: i LOVE it.

same sort of buzz i used to get from driving my motorbike at 170mph (sorry mum) but with a lot less traffic.

i told maximum how proud i was of him and we did a long blue run together: just the two of us and it was great.

dear dad

dear dad

sadly at the end of the day, on our last long run of the holiday, we were all together and having fun but maximum deliberately took a right turn instead of a left turn and ended up a long way from where he should have been.
then the lifts were turned off for end of day and he was stuck at the bottom of a run.

i had to go get him and he was once more in the doghouse, grounded.

z got to go to a bad french punch and judy show, heavy on dialogue (with me bored out my brains) while maximum had to stay at the apartment.
going to the puppet show was a worse punishment.

all has been forgiven now, i returned from the torturous puppet show to a long written apology.

z, just about to go off the edge, half way down a blue slope about 2000m up.

with a rainbow, solar flare and snowflakes like gold dust all around.

sorry to hear about lee mc queen.

we weren't friends, but back in the distant day he came to some of my parties (round 1995) and for a while lived over the road from the perou factory in victoria park.

me and mrs.perou were literally saying what a genius he was on the way here 6 days ago.
i hope when i die i don't get loads of people i don't know or care about leaving condolences on a website.
