paradiddle

so, now we ARE excited...

had three viewings lined up today but only got as far as the first one...
the viewing started with a tour of the outside, at which point i said to mrs.perou 'we're having this: i love it (regardless of what state the house is in)'.

so, to cut a long story short, we've had our offer on a small kentish farmstead accepted.
it's got a 17th century farm house, 3 acres of gardens (and a possible 40 acres more around it) loads of out-houses and a huge barn (to be a studio).
it also has a swimming pool, a pair of peacocks, an orchard full of apple, pear and walnut trees.
and a tractor.
and a vegtable garden.
palm trees.
and the original horse drawn carriage in the coach house but no horse.

the house, which was formerly owned by THE mr.r.whites (of secret lemonade drinker fame) is in complete need of loving attention and updating.
it's surrounded by countryside, but only 1 mile from the sea.

it's even got a small boat you can pilot upstream to the local pub.

we LOVE it.
didn't want to leave.

this picture of mrs.perou was taken opposite the house.
(note the grin)
compare this to the view out of our current garden (pictured two days ago).

the 'viewer' who was showing us round today was retired from the army and was now a part time viewer and part time jazz musician.
he's going to play at our house warming party.
oh yes.
i used to play drums (classic percussion not ROCK) and he reminded me of the word 'paradiddle' and i remembered 'double paradiddle'.
haven't heard those words since i was really small.
they are the root of (formal)drumming though.

had lunch and a drink at the local pub.
drove back along the coast for a while and have spent the afternoon over-elated and happy.

now we just have to hope the LDA don't fudge things up and after a surveyor gives the place the OK, we can get ourselves out of london and into the good-times in time for summer.

mr.harry borden is currently on his way over.

(1 set of) fingers crossed everyone.
thankyou.
