I’m somewhat frustrated seeing so many amazing scenes crying out to be photographed but being on another mission and unable to detour (just now).

Slept 10.30pm till 1.40am. Stayed awake till 4am unable to sleep and got up tired at 7am, three hours later.

Got caught in some kind of religious ceremony on route to the ashram and probably the Pondicherry rush hour.

Shot at the ashram until the afternoon. Curry for breakfast, lunch and probably would have been for dinner. Spice overload. Thankfully I have recently ‘got into’ curries: I had been avoiding them since childhood after the village I grew up in opened a ‘Ye Olde Village Tandori’.

happy belated valentines day

happy belated valentines day
Ms. Hood disappointingly decided that even though she’s never been in India before, she was tired after a few hours retouching and so, decided to return to the ‘nice’ but horrible (dim) hotel for a swim etc... so I had to detour for an hour there and back before I could commandeer our driver to take me back along the road I’d come in on (from Chennai) to find the shrine I wanted to photograph.

Unfortunately, through a language default (I don’t speak tamil) I managed to get driven for an hour out of town on the wrong road and didn’t find the shrine of my (literal) dreams.
Did get to learn a bit about Hinduism though, and the who’s who of religious effigies.

Returned to the hotel to eat some French cuisine... which today was fish of the day with vegetable gratin... which appeared to be the same fish as yesterday... so it may have been fish of the yesterday... tasted like it too.

Otherwise, all is well.

Have kind of resigned myself to the fact my phone, email and website won’t work here.

A busy day ahead at the ashram tomorrow.
then maybe a piss-up at the old colonial hotel, ‘The Promendade’ in Pondicherry.

Sunday is a day of rest technically but I’m off on foot to take some (more) photos...
