more commuter hell:
some fools crashed into each other in a large way on the M20 so some other people (the highways agency) shut it.
so all the people trying to commute into london on the M20 were diverted onto the M2.
then some other fools crashed into each other on the M2 and some other unfortunates broke down.
effectively cutting off all my routes into town (and my awaiting shoot).
watched (the very good) 'the yards' on my ipod while i parked on a motorway and phoned ahead to explain that i had NO idea what time i'd be on set.
i was due at 10am
i'd left at 7.30am
i made it by 10.30am in time to be disgusted by the 'papa-nazi' scum waiting for my sitter's arrival.
thought my (mystery footballer) sitter might be on set for 1.30pm.
but he eventually arrived at 4ish and was ready to be photographed at 5pm.
had a quite stressful short shoot with a few technical difficulties, which we overcame.
NOT pleasant shooting on a P30 back in terms of incredibly shallow depth of field and inability to 'freeze' movement even without modelling lights and shooting in the dark etc...
at 7.30 or 8pm(?) i said to the footballer 'that's great: let's just try that again once more' and he said, 'no: we've finished' and he walked off set.
a strange shoot with lots of blame being apportioned for things not going seemlessly.
problems ALWAYS arise on shoots: the behind the scenes stuff behind a picture is never evident from the final image: 1000 things could impact on a shoot that y'all would never appreciate unless you were there.
a professional is able to deal with issues as they arise and keep things moving (which we did and always do).
wasn't the most pleasant vibe on a shoot though.
we're all being paid so i shouldn't complain...but i believe we should be able to enjoy our work as it's also our lives: this isn't a job i do for the money: i'd be taking pictures if no-one was paying.
finished so late i had to book into a hotel in town, unplanned.
knackered: to bed without dinner, internet or wife.
