geoff

geoff

this is my oldest (he's 100) dearest friend: mr geoffrey audis.
i am the godfather to his firstborn son, oliver.
i am don perou.

as frances said (after meeting him for the first time last night) he's a 'jolly fellow'.
and he has more natural talent as an artist than i have ever had.

we grew up together in the village i was born in.
went to the same schools.
were in the same cubs scouts, then scouts, then venture scouts together.
even stacked shelves in the same sainsburys

he works at gatwick airport now and met us there when me and frances got back from madrid (late) last night.

he helped us find my cameras that had flown alone 3hrs in advance of us (due to easyjet error).
they had been left abandonded in the middle two carousels in an empty airport for hours.

no matter how much time passes between me and geoff seeing each other, it's always honest: straight-up friendship with no pretence: it's always easy.
and it's always good to see him.

i'm very lucky: i have a lot of very good, dear friends: friendships that have gone beyond 'local' friendships from what i call proximity friends: those people you're friendly with because you share the same space and time.

real friends are still your friends if you live in different countries and don't see each other for ages and when you do see them nothing's changed between you.

randy donut

randy donut

i love 'randy's donuts'...not to eat at, but to drive past and know i'm back in LA.

drove from gatwick to heathrow last night (not passing 'GO'...or home) and stayed in a hotel at heathrow before flying to LA this morning.

had a duff, overcrowded flight with no possibility of upgrading with miles.
could have paid for the upperclass upgrade but it was £2200 one way...ur...

carbon footprint size 10

carbon footprint size 10

so if flying wasn't bad enough...i had to hire me a bright red hummer to drive round town in.
(photo ms.hood)

OK OK i'll plant some trees when i get home!

such a shame driving offensively large trucks buggers the enviroment: they're so much fun.
this is a H3: it's the baby hummer: it's actually much smaller than the current perou-mobile.

and if it didn't have it's spare wheel on the back, i'd bring one home with me and flip it to LPG.
still waiting to see if bioethanol is the way forward and if it's easier to flip diesel trucks or petrol.
grrrrr....zzzzzzz....

cheked into our hotel off sunset.
my suite is 5 times the size of our bedroom at home.
in fact my bathroom here IS the same size as our bedroom at home.
it's quite preposterous...love it.

had an early dinner at the newsroom cafe on robertson (opposite the ivy)
and am having an evening in to answer emails and justify comments like 'me and all my friends are better than everyone else'.
