hand wash only

tried (unsuccessfully) to wash the gravy stains out of my trousers.
forgot i had my passport in the knee pocket.
DOH!

took me a while to get my new US visa.
not sure how immigration control will feel about me having a visa with run ink and a passport with crumpled pages.

went for a walkabout till lunchtime.

had a chicken ceaser salad at 'lucky strike': i am a person of habit.

slept for a few hours after, back at the apartment.
extremely tired and jetlagged.
i was wrong about it being cold in here in the winter: that whistling radiators belting out hot stuff: i've got all the windows open because i can't turn it off.

watched the nascar daytona 500 on tv.
didn't realise it was 500 miles at an average of 180mph.
quite exciting but maybe not so much as formula 1.

good to see american cars racing though.
saw one of THESE today with some 22" (?) chrome rims and it was most splendid.
thought perhaps i should get one till the 'dodge zeo' comes out in 2010?

on the way out for dinner, accidentally passed a store called 'ilori'.
it's evil: i couldn't get out without giving into to my 'addiction'.
now i have a very nice new pair of unusual, tortoise shell glasses from ralph lauren.

i was like a kid in a (very expensive) sweet shop.

ms.hood is not accompanying me on this trip.
(this is probably my first trip alone for 3 years)
she is normally good at keeping me out of sunglasses stores: it's part of her job.

at least i only left with one pair.
there were several pairs of glasses that i would have liked...i'll be here for some more days though: i must be sure to avoid that part of spring street.

i bought a pork fillet, zuchinni, garlic and mushrooms at 'dean and delucca' on broadway.
and returned in the light drizzle to the apartment to cook dinner for myself and to watch an dodgy copy of 'there will be blood'.

despite my trousers being ruined, and now my passport/visas AND despite it not being so cold as expected here so i COULD have been wearing a pinstripe suit round town...i have decided that i have to get out of the groove i've been stuck in recently.

VICTIMS have bad things happen to them because they solicit it.
if you think the world is out to get you, it probably is.

shit happens: get over it.
