i eye

i eye

thought i'd be better by this morning...but woke up still feeling like the flesh was being prised off my bones.

spent the morning in bed feeling miserable.
then mrs.perou pointed out the barn doors were blowing loose in the 100mph winds so had to get up and get fixing.

was just sitting in my office, talking to my lab when a very large old tree decided enough was enough and snapped itself cleanly away from it's roots crashing down, missing the house by 4ft and squashing our treasured monkey puzzle tree.

there's a huge gap where it once was.
unfortunately it made a lovely dark overgrown corner and now there's just nothing.

with my newly sharpened chainsaw and feeling less wretched, i suited up and went out into the windy...to do the manly.
wasn't planning on sorting it all out (the trunk's about 3-4ft wide) but thought i might try and rescue what was being squashed.

despite wearing safety goggles, managed to get sawdust blown into both eyes.
which i then couldn't get out.

many eyes baths later, screaming abuse at mrs.perou (like it was her fault) decided i needed professional help.
there's no moorfields here, sadly, but my doctor said he'd have a look.
it's the first time i've seen him...he was a fat, lazy man who said there was nothing in my eye.

decided to drive to ashford, 20 miles away to the A&E.
one eye was clear of dust by this point but i could still feel two bits in my right eye.
seemed ironic that radio 1 was playing a snowpatrol song with the lyrics 'open your eyes' over and over...

drove almost blind with one eye unopenable and the other wanting to close all the time.
got caught in a major traffic jam down a country road with a car on it's roof.
sat stationary for half an hour, thinking this really wasn't what i needed and i just wanted to get to the hospital when i suddenly realised i could open my eye and all the bits were out.

i'm SO paranoid about my eyes being damaged: it's one of the (many) reasons i wear glasses all the time.

the crying in desperation in the car obviously helped.

back at the farm, have started putting books on shelves: WOOOHOOO!

both eyes are stinging.
the yellow is from a dye that the doctor put in to see scratches.
i'm officially having a bad week.

just heard the news: 7 dead in the gales so far including a 2 yr old.
:(
we've got off lightly i reckon.
touch wood: we haven't even had a power cut.
