guilt
the farmer in me did the nasty this afternoon.
was just talking to my agent on the phone and said 'hold on: i'll be back in a bit: i just need to go and get an air rifle'.
i DO love animals and i DO feel like a bastard for ending this one's life.
it ended very quickly.
one to the head.
i'm certain this will upset some people.
i wasn't going to post this picture but i believe in photographing everything: good and bad (you may have noticed) so here i share my guilt with the world.
shit goes on in the countryside...some of it aint pretty.
it's not sport.
i didn't enjoy it...
i know they're friendly looking but they're rats with fluffy tails and our family of 4 or 5 squirrels has helped cause £62,500 of thatch damage.
bizarrely made me feel very vulnerable: like i had a lot in common with the squirrel and we never know when time's up.

stratford
i'm hoping his days of squirrel chasing aren't numbered.
results back weds(ish)
he of course shows no signs of anxiety...i expect he doesn't even feel like he's been cut about a bit.
thankyou to everyone well wishing.
and tenuous link...talking of wishing wells...(arf) it seems all is NOT lost regarding the well and it's over-toxicity.
apparently charcoal filters etc. will fix it.
tbc...
one can only assume then that mid kent water were lying about not being able to filter nitrates for some ulterior motive?
we'll see anyway: i'm not drinking anything that isn't crystal clear and nasty free.
we actually got a slight sprinkling of snow this morning.
and as a special winter warmer treat for both pea-people, i let 'ruby' the peahen in for a congugal visit with 'hamilton' the peacock.
both seemed very happy to spend time together.
ruby was quite keen to get out and roost on top of the barn by sundown though.
hamilton hasn't been eating much and still seems very nervous.
i have hired a hummer to drive round LA in next week.
mrs.perou says i can't bring one home, even if i do convert it to LPG or get it to run on clean air.
boo.
2 $ to the 1 £ now.
