the last samurai: day

the last samurai: day

with frances, met haruo and crispin outside shibuya 109 and went for an 'eat all you can' shabu shabu, which is like korean bbq only you boil your food in a shared cauldron in the middle of your table.
it's very healthy except for the eating 3 plates of beef each, thing.
frances got what she calls 'the meat sweats'.

stupidly decided to wash lunch down with a bananna and chocolate sundae and hot chocolate at hagen das...then had to retire to the hotel for the afternoon to ur...pack and reply to emails (aka lie down, bloated).

got a little bit of shopping sorted very easily.

in the evening, haruo came round with more presents including a book of japanese nudes that his friend had made, which was very kind but quite unhelpful.

met up with crispin again and went to a bar called 'sin city' themed around the film.
we thought we were going to see haruo's friend's burlesque show but we accidentally stumbled on the japanese (official) world pole dancing champion doing a show with some of her friends.
now, i've seen a lot of pole dancing over the last few years but this girl was truly incredible.
she did a show that was kind of like a modern flashdance would be if they'd had poles then.
she blew my mind from 20ft away and almost fully clothed; never seen anyone dance so well, ever, with or without pole.
the pole she was swinging around was 20ft high and started from the 2nd floor mezzanine above: she started sitting in darkness on the floor and ended up at the top of the pole.
truly amazing...and all to massive attack's 'futureproof'.
dark and beautiful.
i was probably watching with my mouth open.

dumbfounded, left for some more drinks in shibuya and retired, tired to the hotel for a final pack.

it now feels like i've been here forever...it's been just 9 days.
i'm sooo keen to get back and see mrs.perou and my boys (even stratford: my dumb dog).
we leave at midday on weds (tokyo time) and arrive in london on weds (gmt) at 4pm: flying all day and night and catching some of the hours we lost here.
